Perth Solar Hybrid Air Conditioning
- 1. How does it work?
- The solar hybrid air-conditioning system uses the sun and ambient air temperature as a heat source to heat the refrigerant (R410A) prior to entry to the compressor in the Outdoor unit (condenser) with the energy needed to reduce the amount of work (and electrical energy) the compressor has to do and for how long it needs to run for.
- 2. Does the solar panel need direct sunlight shining on it?
- No. The solar panel works quite well even in shade.
- 3. Can the solar panel be fitted to an existing air conditioner?
- No. The compressors we use in our systems are heavy duty types manufactured for the purpose in Japan.
- 4. How far away does the solar panel need to be from the outdoor unit?
- It needs to be around 2m maximum to maintain efficiency.
- 5. How far does the Head and Outdoor unit need to be apart?
- Ideally an installation is one that is ‘back to back’ in that the Head unit inside on the wall has the Outdoor unit directly outside. We supply copper piping so that this distance is around 2.5m, however it can be as far as 9m maximum, but costs extra to supply and install.
- 6. What is the warranty?
- The parts and labour warranty for domestic applications is 5 years and for industrial applications is 1 year.
- 7. What savings can I expect from your unit versus a standard inverter type air conditioner?
- Because our unit uses heat energy from the sun to superheat the refrigerant gas and help the compressor change the refrigerant gas from a gaseous state back to a liquid again, the workload is taken off the compressor and savings of approximately 35% to 55% in electricity consumption is attained and in some cases even higher. This means that you can either run your air conditioner for the same time at these reduced electricity costs or longer by the same margin for the same financial cost. It’s up to you.
- 8. What size system do I need?
- Our 26GW unit is good for 11m2 to 17m2 of floor area Our 35GW unit is good for 15m2 to 23m2 of floor area Our 60GW unit is good for 25m2 to 42m2 of floor area, and Our 72GW unit is good for 30m2 to 48m2 of floor area.
- 9. Is it available in reverse cycle?
- All units are reverse cycle operation and all functions are controlled by a hand held remote controller.
